Rivers Flowing - lyrics
|
The rain is tapping hard upon my forehead
It makes me close my eyes; it blinks like stars
That water streaks my face so unprotected
hiding the path at only seven yards
I look up through a green of rain-drenched leaves
that trickle, bubble splatter - water splurts
I see them soak it up and take it to me
United with the universe
I always feel I’m lonely to be wond’ring
To be so drawn - taken in to see
But in the warm caress of showers
That wonder’s all I need
Before me through the branches is a shimmer
In hues of blue and grey and stripes of gold
Not much to see as long as I slender
Among the dripping poles
A little further down the path I stumble
And when I sit back up I see the sun
It tumbles shyly over the ocean
I blink and then it’s gone
Drop down - golden
teardrops - break in
rivers flowing
the skies opening
pouring over me
On the horizon I see clouds dispersing
And through them streams a timid ray of glee
All gold and steamy but then – they collide
A rainbow over sea
The rain is pouring lightly down my forehead
It makes me wipe my chin and then it stops
That water streaked my face quite undetected
But for the memory of those soothing drops
Drop down ...
They’re falling over – falling down
I’m gonna feel just fine
They’re falling rain-drop-dead down – oh yeah
I’m soaking wet
